Hi beautiful people!
Since Easter is upon us I wanted to spread a message that’s very important to me! The Easter Bunny is a very popular figure at this time of year; originally he was depicted as a gift giving character to obedient children, along the lines of Santa Claus. Sadly we have come very far from that story and we are now seeing the rabbits as the gifts on Easter. My goal here is to bring a little awareness to hopefully open your eyes to the reality of owning of bunny.
First off Did you know bunnies can take more work to care for than your dog or cat, they are not toys you can buy and set in a corner, they need a lot of attention, frequent feedings and affection. Rabbits live upward of ten years it’s a huge commitment so before you adopt that spur of the moment Easter bunny please rethink all of the options,
Do you have time? Do you truly want a fur baby that you have to love and care for multiple times a day?
Sadly once the reality of the work and care these creatures take Most of them end up abandoned at shelters, euthanized or set free where they are not able to survive in the wild due to domestication.
I am not here to say that rabbits aren’t rewarding, as a bunny mother myself I couldn’t imagine life without them these little creatures can give back so much love if treated in the correct manner.
Now after you’ve done your research and you still think a rabbit is a true choice for you then please consider adopting from a shelter. There are so many wonderful little bunnies needing homes, we don’t need to support the incessant breeding of these magnificent creatures. So Please think twice before buying that Easter bunny.
